Journal Entries

Journal entries are used to record adjustments or transactions that do not go through sales, receipts, or payments.
They are commonly used for corrections or internal adjustments.


Open Journal Entries

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Journal Entries.

If Journal Entries is not visible:

  1. Click Customize
  2. Tick Journal Entries
  3. Click Update

Create a new journal entry

  1. Click New Journal Entry
  2. Enter the Date
  3. Enter a Description
    • Example: Adjustment entry, Correction

Add journal lines

  1. In the first line:
    • Select an Account
    • Enter the Debit amount or Credit amount
  2. In the next line:
    • Select another Account
    • Enter the matching Credit or Debit amount

The total debits must equal total credits.


Save the journal entry

  1. Review the amounts
  2. Click Create

The journal entry will now be recorded.


Notes

  • Journal entries should only be created when necessary.
  • If you are unsure which accounts to use, do not proceed.
  • Journal entries can be edited or reversed if required.
